What's Dropshipping?
Dropshipping is a method where you find the products you want, from the manufacturer or supplier in a cheap price and then upload it's description and details with your own labelled price on the products and sell them to your customers, after selling , you just pay suppliers the cheaper price and then provide them with your client's address to ship the products to them. The basic work you have to do in dropshipping is take some useful products from the suppliers, advertise it from your website and social media , and then sell them in your own price and make a net profit after each sale. Reading this, you might feel it's illegal but let me assure you that it's completely legal and is being carried out all over the world. Now, on paper, dropshipping seems way too easy. you just take someone else's products in your website, market it and sell them in your own price and let suppliers do the rest of the job . But, It's never as easy as it seems. So the question arises, Is Dropshipping Worth It?
Things To Consider While Dropshipping:
1.A platform:
The best platform in this business is Shopify. Many of you might already know about Shopify, it's a platform that provides you with everything you need for dropshipping. You'll get your own free domain , your online store which you can customize, the list of suppliers and stores where you can search your products and add to your store. You can also buy your domain as you desire, which is considered better. However, Shopify also requires you to buy it's plan after the trail ( trial period will be given to you in order to test the experience).
2. Setting up your Store:
After you sign up on Shopify and buy it's subscription, You must be very selective on your store theme.
The store's website must represent the products you intend to sell to your customers. You must make your shop a niche website with a buy button. It's this Simple. You also should have the knowledge about choosing products if you can't figure out your niche for time being. You can find the article about choosing products on my blogs here, but figuring out a niche should be your top priority.
Coming back to the topic, After figuring out your niche, choosing the products, and customizing your theme, make sure you don't make your website a rainbow , as in using a lot of colors on your website. It's doesn't do well with customers.
3.Driving traffic :
So, now all the basic things have been handled. You have found a platform, set up your store , made it tidy and on point, but how are you planning on attracting your audience? how are going to make people buy your products on your price? The best way to transform your little store into a brand is organic traffic, Use different medias such as tiktok, facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. Flaunt your products there, highlight the advantage and usefulness of your products, use different hashtags that are viral, and be consistent in posting videos. By flaunting, don't mistake me for uploading images and converting them into videos listing advantages and expecting people to buy it. It doesn't work that way, You need to have a proper video of the product like an ad, you may use ad of other tiktokers as some doesn't have copyrights issue, Or Buy a product first and make video of it yourself then upload it. If you can't do this then you might have to use fb ads and others. There are different ways for marketing your products, you can learn more about it in my previous article.To even have some sales to your name, you have to carry the above steps with perfection and you might also need to invest some money of yours before starting to earn.
CONCLUSION:
If you have some following in facebook , instagram, Tiktok and have the resources with a technical team to make a proper advertisement about your chosen product , then this work might just be for you. But , if you aren't from some elite country , don't have the money or even don't have the availability for foreign money gateway, then you shouldn't waste your time investing it on this venture. You must have enough money to bear some losses at the beginning and then only you can actually thrive on this. Marketing is also not everyone's jam, you must understand your capabilities before you enter in dropshipping.DO NOT make the decision of entering this field solely based on some youtube videos.
